2nd squad 2nd platoon B Co ...While starting to move, they observed movement at 20 meters, Engaged w/s/a fire..results: 1 female KIA wearing 2 GI t shirts, one pair GI socks, black dress. Also carrying one tube ISA, 1 poncho liner. Carrying a basket of bananas and found two more on ground as if someone had dropped them and ran, could not find tracks due to the vegetation in the area.

Co C 1st platoon: DTG 012105 at grid 621342 had mech ambush detonate at 2105 hrs 1 June 70. Checked it out at approx 0655 hrs 2 June 70....Had 3 KIA's with 2 males age 25 to 30, 1 female-age approx 15 years old. 1 male was wearing cutoff pants and a t shirt....the other male was wearing black VC shirt and pants. Co C .....captured 1 M-1 carbine w/20 rounds.

C Co 54 Element engaged one VC at grid 621341 wearing black pj's. VC was traveling East when engaged, and evaded to the East. 54 checked out the area with negative results....VC was not carrying a weapon.

From C Co DTG of event 030855 at grid 624341, Co C observed 1 VC/NVA (35 years old) and 1 boy 10 years old moving toward them from SE...Co C pursued them as they tried to evade to SE..Engaged with M-60 and 5 M-16..results: 2 KIA engaged at close range of 60 meters...Wearing black pj's-no shoes. Had rubber bag with 2 packs GI matches, metal container of tobacco, piece of blackcloth rubber bag of nuts. (betel presumed) 1 brown hat, 1 GI belt, 2 ponchos, basket ( fish catching type ), 2 rice hooks...Co C thinks they were waiting to police up Co C garbage. Were 200 meters away when they disappeared... sent element to search at 60 meters. Chased for 40 meters.

From Recon DTG 041515 at grid 739313, Found 6 huts 8'x10' in use and in good condition. Found 5 tunnels 3'x5' with 2' overhead cover. Tunnels go in 2-3 feet....found 5 plastic ponchos, 4 wicker baskets, 2 kerosene lanters, 1 3x5" paper with writting on it. found approx 50 lbs of rice in GI ammo cans under hut.

CIA: 1 GI pistol belt and canteen...1 pineapple grenade, 3 ponchos, 2 of new OD cloth, 1 extra shirt and pair of shorts. 1 hammock, $10.00 worth of marijuana, 5 lbs of rice, hard candy, 3 lbs of documents, and paper clips.

Spot Report: from Co B CP DTG 070425 June 70 at grid BS740389, had a trip flare go off and 3 enemy were spotted. 1 NVA/VC KIA with rucksack w/contents: 1- 5 lb of rice, 1 new NVA uniform w/scarf, brown food, 1 bag rice seed, 1 lb of documents, 1 US canteen, 1 thermos, 1 VN shirt and shorts, 1 green parachute flare type, 1 ladies watch, 3 white pills, 1 band aid, 1 tube of toothpaste, 1 bottle insect repellent, 1 insect net, 1 wash rag, 1 new 9mm pistol sn# 0309 date 1967....20 Dong and looks like 1 dollar NVA money. 2 full magazines for pistol. Male age 30 and well fed.

Spot Report D Co 2nd platoon found one behind MAP tripped. Drag marks to the pieces of a body that lay in a area -possible KIA. Followed blood trail another 150 meters. Negative findings then another 200 meters with further negative results.

Spot Report: From Co A at grid 743297. The 3rd platoon observed a well used trail 4-5 feet wide, and it was widened recently. About 50 fighting positions every 10 feet, also 1 new 8'x8' bunker w/overhead cover-made of logs and US sand bags approx 20 meters up the trail. found 1 lookout tower on 2 trees, 5 feet apart and 15 steps leading 25 feet up to a 5'x5' Trail runs East-West.

Spot Report- A Co 3rd platoon had 2 personnel walk into their ambush. Blew one claymore and engaged w/sa fire at grid 748300. Results: 2 NVA KIA. 1st NVA:was wearing long khaki pants, black shirt, Ho Chi Minh sandals, 2nd NVA: white shirt, long khaki pants, Had 5 chicoms grenades (made of mackerel cans). 1 AK-47 KB 1370, 1 Ak-47 with folding stock, (10C2437-1955 Russian) 1 parachute from flare, 1 plastic bowl, 3 1/2 pounds of rice. NVA moving light: both had full banana clip magazines: 25-28 years old. Engaged at 130 ft..first took claymore blast...2nd man 20-30 ft back turned and evaded North. Engaged w/sa fire at 50 meters and resulting in KIA.

Spot Report: A Co CP and 40 had a MAP detonate at 1845 at grid 727310. Results were : 1 NVA KIA. Approx 20-25 years of age, short hair cut, wearing blue shirt and blue shorts, negative footgear. CIA: 1 web belt w/bronze buckle with 5 point star, 2 pouches from M-79 bandoleer tied on belt. 1 pouch contained 1 round AK-44 ammo...negative ID or wallet, negative wallet papers of any kind. 1 GI sand bag tied to a belt, 1 VN spoon, 2 oz of salt, 2 packs of c-ration coffee, 1 VN lighter, 1 P-38, 1 AK-44 bolt action weapon (sn#C1781) Moving South to North towards RS point.

Spot Report: From Recon at grid 685313. observed a VC/NVA NDP in high elephant grass. Residue from camp-fires has area big enough for 50-75 men and is 2-3 weeks old. 50 meters to the South is a trail leading NS and it is filled with punji stakes to the South for 75 meters.

At 1415 hrs A Co at grid 727310 CP had a MAP detonate: result: 1 NVA KIA 25-30 years old. Hair 3-4 " on top, short on side, 1 GI bush hat with hippie head band, short khaki shirt over T shirt. 1 nylon pistol belt with silver buckle, GI plastic poncho, 1 square piece of parachute, 1 empty GI sandbag rigged as a pack, 1 GI field dressing....Negative weapons or ID or documents, Personnel was moving West to East into A Co resupply area-where they had placed the MAP. A new MAP was replaced in the area.

Spot Report: From Recon at 0920 hrs. at grid 672297. Had MAP detonate....Recon CP moved W to check. Received S/A fire for about 10 minutes from West. No casualties or damage. Found 1 NVA KIA by MAP and killed 1 NVA w/SIA that had been wounded by MAP. Heard talking and found a bandage on trail in area where they had took fire. Think at least 1 more NVA was in the area but escaped. KIA were 20-25 years old. One in GI fatigue pants, other in black shorts, neither had on shirts. CIA: 1 AK-47w/magazine and 1 SKS, 1 GI pistol belt, canteen and first aid pack,..no documents. traveling east found 1 US grenade and 1 chicom.

At grid 613474 FO from 6/11 Arty spotted 2 sampan's on the river bank and didn't spot any personnel in area. Engaged With B 6/11 Arty...Results: 2 sampan's were destroyed by Arty.

Spot Report-D Co 1st platoon 1st squad-engaged 1 VC/NVA at grid 724311 with 6 rounds, 1 KIA with a approx age of 35 years old and wearing a tan shirt and green shorts. He was carrying a blue pouch of banana's, machete, 1 US M-33 frag grenade. Platoon was moving North on a large trail, Element observed VC/NVA on trail that was parallel to the large trail. VC was moving N out of banana trees.

Spot Report: D Co 261017 Jun at grid 726327. A MAP detonated at grid 726327 with 1st platoon 1st squad...Results: 1 VC/NVA KIA-man wearing long sleeve shirt and long pull on pants-dirty grey. Enemy was moving North and person was 25-30 years old. He was carrying a machete...Hair was short on sides and long on top...no shoes. Grids changed 726327-724311.

Sport Report: From D Co at grid 722312. 1st platoon found 2 old hooches still serviceable, 1 was 5'x5' & the other was 5'x 8'and there were 3-4 bundles of leaves from about 2 days ago. Found 2 bunkers dug 3-4 feet into hill with 2'x 2' opening. Equipment in the area: old cooking pot, bush hat, pith helmet, bottle half full of kerosene. Evidence of several old fires in area.Trail running NE-SW and water within 200 meters. Farther down the hill was an area 200' wide and about 1/4 mile long, all rice paddies, a large garden area, banana trees and potatoes plant (mature). Barefoot tracks on dikes still fresh-4 hoes used to work rice paddies.

D Co 2nd platoon at grid 719315 DTG of event 270758. 1st squad of 2nd platoon found 1 lean-to 9'x9'x4' high, approx 5-6 months old and behind lean-to were holes 3'x3' for protection. Also two hooches 12'x12'x 6' high, approx 9-12 months old on trail running NE-SW. 3 old baskets on the ground. Purple smoke had been dropped in the area. Also while moving up creek bed this morning and observed many cultivated rice paddies that were mixed with grass. Creek was dammed up and there were troughs going into paddies. Area shows oblivious signs of recent and heavy use.

D Co 3rd platoon 1st squad located 3 huts 6'x 10'-new and in good condition. Element found 3 baskets, 1 old parachute, 3 bundles fresh bamboo, fresh ashes, 1 pick axe. Believe area has been used within the Also found 6 6'x6' huts with side deteriorated... Also 8 bunkers 3'x4' w/partial overhead cover. Three tunnels in bunkers 2'x3'. Numerous small trails and one large trail running N-S ...Activity within the last day.

Spot Report-B Co at 1330, at grid 659407, 2nd squad 3rd platoon, found 4 huts 5'x 10'. 1 hut had cooking utensils and broom inside. Found 1 hut 15' x 15' w/table inside and tunnel under hut. Found 1 tunnel 5'x20'x 20'. 1 cave 40'x10'x25' w/entrances from N-S-E and 1 hole with 3'x4' entrance into room 6'x5'x8', 2 trails coming uphill and 3 down hill into the area. Found powder charge for 155 round. 3 full M-16 magazines wrapped in NVA plastic, grave in area. Area used in the last 3 months.

From Bde C 4/3 DTG 280825 at grid 505780. C Co received 30 rounds from sniper fire and 2 -M-79 rounds from 150 meters with negative casualties. Element engaged with Arty and small arms fire-resulting in 1 NVA WIA. 3rd platoon maneuvered on NVA 20 meters to their E and engaged with small arms fire-resulting in 1 NVA KIA ...20 years old wearing green uniform, CIA 1 AK-47, 3 AK-47 magazines w/86 rounds, 1 US frag grenade, 1 chicom frag. All CIA equipment sent to LZ 411.

From D Co CP DTG of Event 281250 at grid 716314. One MAP detonated at 1250 hrs. at grid 717314. The CP element moved into check results where at grid BS716314 they received 2 rounds of small arms. They fired 81mm mortar behind area of fire and had Arty doing the same as they moved into search area. Element had negative results from the mech.
