Also apprehended 2 females who were hiding, found 4 camouflaged hooches and 1 green uniform at grid BS469738.The female VCS were taken to LZ Buff. At grid BS5476 observed a path & a hidden sampan....both were destroyed and 1 secondary explosion was observed.

Charlie Company at grid location BS 491756, spotted 4 VC evading (3 carrying AK-47's). Charlie Company engaged them with small arms fire and resulting in; 1 VC KIA and 1 VC WIA (unconfirmed). VC KIA was wearing black pj's and was approx 19 years old and had a leather NVA belt, 3 chicom grenades, 50 rounds for AK-47, 1 container of assorted medical supplies, green cloth and 1 blue uniform CIA.

06 Apr. 69 1050H At 1030 hrs. Recon platoon while searching a village at grid location BS458795. Recon platoon requests a dust off at BS548795 for 1 US WHA result of Booby trap inside a hooch. Delta Company requests that line # 122 Pfc Edward Prasch with a 103 temperture. Line # 103 Pfc Don W. Gosset with a possible knee fracture. They are to be evacuated to the LZ Buff aid station for treatment. EM's arrived at LZ Buff at 0745 hrs.

Delta Company at grid location BS444802 found 1 canteen, 1 flashlight, 1 NVA pack, 1 entrenching tool, 1 notebook, and at 3 different locations found numerous body parts; 2 or 3 fingers, intestines and some human feet. Delta Company estimates 3 VC KBA.

Late Entry; At 1445 hrs. Delta Company 2nd platoon spotted 15-20 VC moving East at grid location BS435798. When the VC saw the 2nd platoon of Delta Company, they changed direction and headed West. Arty was called on grid BS430798. Delta Company observed the Arty fire and reported 6 VC KIA. Delta Company also reports the VC were wearing black pj's & some had green uniforms with packs and weapons.

They tried to get them out with smoke w/negative results, so they threw in a frag grenade into the bunker. They checked the bunker out at 1030 hrs. 18 April 69 and found 2VC KIA. MAM's wearing black pj's. Negative /weapons/ID/...found some documents.

Received message from LNO at Tra Bong; At 0930 hrs. friendly forces made contact with a estimated VC squad size at grid BS382812. The VC were using AK-47's and carbines. Contact was broken at 0945 hrs. with the enemy headed West. Negative friendly casualties and enemy casualties unknown. Made sweep of area and found bunker and tunnels. Found some rice; destroyed it.

Various medical supplies, 20 SKS-44 rounds, one 12 gauge shotgun (Stevens) SN# 30660, 1 75 mm round, 1 RR round(unknown cal ) and approx 37 pounds of sardines in a large can. The rice was destroyed. All items were found in an enemy base camp at grid location BS656369.

Delta Company at grid location BS642448, reports their 2nd platoon KIA 1 VC evading East and wearing grey uniform, MAM 18-20 years old, w/negative ID/weapons. Checking out area now.

Delta Company's 2nd platoon, 2nd squad, while on a patrol around the base of a hill, at grid location 638450, was ambushed by an unknown size enemy force using SA, AW and chicoms grenades fired from several positions and from a well fortified village with bunkers at the range of 10 meters. Then the patrol was pinned down by AW fire and chicom grenades; results were 1 US was KHA by S/A fire, 1 US WHA by S/A fire and 2 US were WHA from the chicom grenades. The 1st platoon maneuvered around the pinned down element and extracted them. 81 mm mortars were fired into the area and a 105 command detonated mine went off on the East side of the perimeter at grid location BS 635447, resulting in 3 more US KHA.The element then withdrew to the West and FAC (HELIX 05) put in an AS into the area resulting in 2 small secondary explosions. A dust off was called in for the KHA & WHA persons at 1155 hrs. and was completed at 1223 hrs.

DDelta Company discovered a trench at grid location BS638450, that ran parallel to the area in which they were ambushed earlier. After checking 40 meters of the trench , the Psg discovered an enemy marking , which indicated the trench was mined & booby trapped. In addition there were 6 bunkers and approx 40 feet of tunnels. Delta Company requested demolitions to destroy the trench and structures and a AS is scheduled for the area.
